In the words of one of its organisers, Orientation Week is a "seriously good time" for freshers. Designed to welcome the new students to College, introduce them to new friends and help them to settle in, O-week involves a busy schedule of activities, and lots of dressing up for themed events. Shopping at St Vinnies is a must!
The week begins with a welcome lunch for parents and freshers hosted by the Principal, and with talks about College life and the academic program. Fifteen student organisers from College also put together a full program of events with other Colleges, including a Hawaiian-theme beach party, champagne breakfast and croquet on the St Paul's lawn, pyjama party brunch at St John's, and twilight drinks in the Sancta Sophia College quad followed by a colourful Rubik's Cube Night at St Andrew's. There's also a toga party, a jazz night, and a scavenger hunt around Newtown and Glebe, and a final intercollege fresher party at Manning on campus. The College O-Week program coincides with the University's Orientation week, and the timetable of events includes a full tour of the University campus and the O-Week stalls in front of the Main Quad. This is supervised fun at its very best!
