Lynn Wood MA MBA
1969
Recently reappointed to the Foreign Investment Review Board for a further 5 years, former student and College Council member Lynn Wood has lately attracted interest in the financial press for her “portfolio career.” Lynn’s work-and-life package encompasses a number of different jobs and clients, which gives her a high degree of variety and diversification. After a full-time executive business and finance career that included senior positions with American Express, Citicorp Australia, Schroders Australia, Myer and David Jones, Lynn now divides her time between paid and unpaid work, consulting as an executive coach, attending board meetings for Macquarie Goodman, doing charity work for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and in her spare time playing tennis. “As you get higher up in your career,” she notes, “it’s harder to find other comparable jobs. And you have so much experience that can benefit a multitude of interests, so it’s good to be able to use that experience.”
Lynn studied for an MA in Psychology at Sydney University, before going on to complete an MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management. She is former President of Women Chiefs of Enterprises, and has two children. Lynn’s son started as a fresher at St Paul’s College in 2005. “The only reason I let him go,” she says “was that I had such a wonderful time at Women’s College, and I wanted him to have the opportunity of meeting a great peer group like I did.”
